SIP Building System Gallery for Bloomsbury School

We were given the opportunity to build a new teaching block at Bloomsbury Primary School, Birmingham, West Midlands but rather than it being a traditional construction using brick and block, it had been specified and designed using SIP’s Panels or Structural Insulated Panel’s - Follow the project here via our picture gallery and watch as the various stages of the building process come together.

What does SIP stand for?

Structural Insulated Panels or SIP’s for short are a modern way of building using a high quality foam core sandwiched between two sheets of Oriented Strand Board or OSB for short. Factory manufactured under strict conditions, the panels can be made in a variety of different sizes to suit the nature and design of the building with doorways and windows preformed. The result is a building system that is energy efficient, extremely strong and cost effective. Building with SIPs will save time, money and labour.

Structural Insulated Panel Costs

In many ways the construction costs of are very similar to that of a traditional build with the savings coming from the speed of erection. Noticeably when building with SIP Panels, once the foundations and floor are in place which are often of traditional method i.e. concrete and block, the construction area is a much cleaner and safer environment to work.
